Jesus Enjoys a Party Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

What are the small things you celebrate in your life?

WORSHIP

Psalm 8
(For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by a stringed instrument)
O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of your name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
You have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise.
They silence your enemies who were seeking revenge.
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you have set in place—
what are mortals that you should think of us, mere humans that you should care for us?

WORD

Read Luke 14:15-24

  • What was one of your best parties? What made it good?
  • What stands out to you in the parable?
  • The three people in the parable accepted the initial banquet invitation and then backed out with some flimsy excuses. How would you have felt if you were the host?
  • Why do you think was the real reason the three didn’t come?
  • What does this parable teach us about the Kingdom of God?
  • From your experience, what excuses do people make to avoid God’s banquet?

Read Revelation 19:7-9

  • Jesus tells us in Luke 14 that He was planning a supper. John tells us about this great wedding supper that the Lord has planned for us. What do imagine it will be like?
  • What do you think will be on the agenda at the supper?
  • How do you think we can prepare for this event? Read Ephesians 5:27, 2 Peter 3:14, Jude 1:21-24
