WELCOME ICEBREAKER What was your highlight of the week? WORSHIP Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. (1 Chron. 16:10) Spend about 10 to 15 minutes seeking the Lord and His presence at the meeting. Freely rejoice in Him and His goodness! WORD 1. Read Exodus 14 as a group. 2. What strikes you about this well-known story? 3. The Israelites where afraid when they saw the army approaching them. Discuss the effect that fear had on them. See verses 10-12. 4. If you looked up as saw the Egyptian army coming what would you do? - Cry out to God in fear.
- Get upset and blame Moses.
- Wait for another miracle.
- Surrender as slavery is better than death.
- Fight to the finish as death is better than slavery.
5. It was a risk to obey God and enter the sea. Moses made it clear in verse 14 that God would fight for them. Discuss what it took for them to go from fear (14:10-12) to faith (14:29-31) What does it take for us to let go of the security of the past and reach for the opportunity ahead of us? 6. How do you think the Israelites would have described God to someone who had not seen these events firsthand? 7. What is the pursuing army you fear? What is a Red Sea God is encouraging you to take a risk, trust Him and cross?
8. What one battle would you like God to fight for you this week? WORK Pray for those who are fighting battles in your group.
