WELCOME ICEBREAKER Who was the best boss you have worked for? Why? WORSHIP Psa. 8 (For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by a stringed instrument) O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of your name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise. They silence your enemies who were seeking revenge. When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you have set in place, What are mortals that you should think of us, mere humans that you should care for us? WORD Read Luke 16:1-13 This is one of the parables that Jesus gave that discusses the issue of money. In it He talks about a crooked manager who was going to get fired for his mismanagement of funds. Before he packs up his things he quickly calls in those who are indebted to his employer and cuts them a deal. In hopes that when he is without a job he can go to their home and ask for a favor in return. Surprisingly Jesus tells the audience that we can learn something from this crook. - He looked ahead.
- He planned ahead.
- He acted quickly.
Discuss how he did these three items. How can we practically plan ahead? Ask the group:
Was there a time in your life where you were prepared and seized the moment of opportunity?
Was there a time you missed an opportunity because you where not prepared? Read verses 10,11 again.
In this parable Jesus teaches on the power of being a good steward of all that God has given us. If we are faithful with it, God will entrust us with more. If we pass the test of handling fiances wisely God will trust us with true riches. Read Proverds 31:10-13 as a group.
How did this woman demonstrate she was a good steward?
How do you know this woman used wealth as a servant instead of serving wealth?
What were the true riches that she enjoyed? WORK Pray for the financial needs in your group.
