Psalm 103:1-5

This week we are going to hand out the Together We Can packages to those in our Home Groups.
I suggest the following:

  1. Share with the group that our church is working together to have a facility in the heart of the city that will be a centre for years to come of God's love. If you have first time visitors, let them know that this is a special project that the church family is doing and that they are under no obligation.
  2. Read 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
    1. What can we learn about giving from the Macedonian church?
    2. How does giving reflect God's grace?
    3. Whis is being able to receive also important?
  3. Pass out the brochures and DVDs and briefly explain the following points:
    1. The Together We Can stewardship campaign is a three year campaign to raise the funds to pay for the remainder of our building renovation and finish paying off the mortgage.
    2. Everyone is asked to pray about doing his or her part.
    3. The church family will make their commitment on December 4 at the Christmas Banquet.
    4. God wanted our church in the heart of the city. Jesus left us with the principle that if He were lifted up, He would draw people to Himself. He told us the harvest was plentiful.
  4. Put on the DVD. It is about 16 minutes in length. It is intended to give an overview of what we can do together. The introduction is a spin off the movie, Field of Dreams. The idea being that God had a dream for a church in Vancouver - if we will arise and build, He will draw the people.
  5. If you do not have a DVD player walk through the pages of the the brochure together.
  6. Answer any questions the group has. Use the Q&A sheet. Just answer the questions asked, if you go through all the Q&A sheet it may be overwhelming. If you do not have the answer, tell them you will get back to them next week. DO NOT FAKE IT.
  7. Reassure them this is a great opportunity to invest in the kingdom of God.
