The book of Acts gives us a blueprint of how believers can expect to experience God and follow Him. There are several principles that thread through this book that give us the direction we need for life in the church. These are:

• They had faith from their desire to hear the word of God?
• They had authority in the name of Jesus
• They had power as they yielded to the Holy Spirit
• They had community as they kept the unity of the believers

In this lesson we will review the power of the word of God that produces faith in our hearts. Ask each member in the group to read one of the following verses and share what affect/response the word of God had on the early church.

• Acts 4:31
• Acts 6:2-7
• Acts 8:14,15
• Acts 10:44

Have your group look up one of the following verses and share what quality of the word of God it highlights:

• John 1:1-4
• John 1:14
• 1 Thess. 2:13

WORK

• Pray for those who were baptized on Sunday.
• Pray for the volunteers on Sunday – for them to encouraged and strengthened as they faithfully serve, some of them are there from 6:30 to 3:30 each week.
• Pray for the department leaders and staff so that the word of God can increase as it did in the book of Acts.
