For the Next Generation |

WELCOME ICEBREAKER What is a favourite story that your parents passed down to you about your family? WORSHIP This past week I had the privilege of visiting a number of home groups and saw again the great power of singing praises to God as a small group. The time of MAN TO GOD is such an important component of our groups. Please ensure you prepare for this. Singing to a CD and supplying words for the new comers is a great way to go! Enjoy!!! WORD Key text to read as a group: Judges 2:7-12 Joshua, the great leader, who followed after Moses, died at the age of 110 after serving God faithfully for years. Through his leadership, the nation of Israel had entered into a land of plenty, enjoying crops, which they did not plant, and water from wells they didn’t dig. It only took about thirty years for the next generation to forget the miracles God did leading them to the Promised Land and the instructions He gave them to live by. Questions for discussion: - What do you think the mood was like in the country when Joshua died?
- What caused the next generation to walk away from the faith of their parents?
- What do you think should have been done different?
- Did your parents ever talk to you about the faith of your ancestors? Did they ever share any miracles that God did in your family? If so, how and when did they tell you? Refer to the following verses that stress the importance of sharing with the next generation: Deut. 6:4-12, Psa. 22:30, 78:4, 79:13, 102:18, 145:4
- What are the “Baals” of our land?
- What can we do to ensure the next generation understands the rich Christian heritage our country enjoys? What are some practical ideas for our families, our work places or communities?
