WELCOME ICEBREAKER

Give an example of an instruction that you repeatedly heard at home growing up?

WORSHIP

Come into His presence with thanksgiving.

WORD

As a group read 2 Peter 1:1-15.

Peter, at the time he wrote this, is an old man. He has experienced a lot and had a good understanding of the human family. His faith in God was strong and unwavering. He is writing to the people to warn them not to get deceived by false teachers who told them they could live immoral lives without consequences. These teachers scoffed at the idea that God would judge them. Peter tells them while God is longsuffering with us there is a judgment day coming. He tells them he understands they already know the virtues he writes to them about, but they need a constant reminder of them and after he dies he wants them to keep teaching these principles.

  • Go around and ask the group what verse stood out to them. The same way we do for the Proverb of the day.
  • What are the seven virtues that Peter instructs them to add to their faith?
  • What are the consequences of not doing these things and what are the benefits that Peter mentions here?
  • Of the seven qualities in verses 5-7 which one are you the strongest in?
  • Which of the seven do you need to work on the most?

WORK

Take time this week to call any members of your group who have not come out for whatever reason. It is vital to the life of the group that we stay in touch with members throughout the week. If you don’t have an apprentice, make it a matter of prayer and don’t hesitate to call your coach or me if you need some input on this. As always we are praying for you. I am ensuring that every Thursday you are prayed for by name at the morning prayer session. If you would like prayer for something personally or for your group please email them to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and she will pass them on.
