Jesus in China - Learning from Chinese Believers Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

Who in your life has inspired your faith?

WORSHIP

Come into His presence with thanksgiving.

WORD

Have members in your group read the following verses and discuss each one:

  • 2 Cor. 3:2

    • What are some practical ways you can be a “living letter” in your work place, school or community.
    • Ask the group if they have ever felt like they are being watched differently once their peers discover they are a Christian. How does that make us feel? What kind of responsibility does this give us?
    • If you were the only “Bible” someone had to read, what kind of message do you think they would get?

  • 2 Cor. 2:14-16

    • What does it mean to have the fragrance of Christ?
    • Discuss verse 16. Try reading it out of different translations. What is Paul getting at here? Have you experienced this?

  • Matthew 5:14-16

    • What is the effect of hiding the light we have? What is the result of letting it shine?
    • Ask if the group has any recent examples of sharing their faith. What affect does it have on your spiritual life when you give your faith away?

On Sunday we shared why people in China were turning to Christianity in great numbers. As a group discuss what you think causes people in Canada to turn to Christ. Have someone in your group record your ideas and submit them with your report. We can then compile them and share all the ideas with the home groups.

WORK

  • Pray for the nation of China
  • Pray for those who were baptized on Sunday
  • Encourage your group to put today’s lesson to practice and look for creative ways to be a living “letter” in their community.
