WELCOME ICEBREAKER What was your highlight in the past week? WORSHIP Share with the group that we are worshiping a King. WORD If we want to become all we can be, we must see ourselves the way God sees us. We have an enemy who constantly lies about who we are. Our self-image only truly comes into focus when we look from God’s perspective. In Numbers 13:33 (…we were like grasshoppers in our own sight) we see a generation lost their destiny because of the way they viewed themselves. Read Genesis 1:26-28 and Ephesians 2:10. The Bible teaches we are God’s workmanship, created in His image and likeness. Discuss as a group what activities, thought patterns, experiences destroy our self-image. No one wants to make the same mistake the people did in Numbers 13. To see yourself as a grasshopper and retreat is not what we dream of. To discover the image of who we really are we must meditate on what God says about us and believe it. Assign each member in your group a verse from the following categories to read, and then have them share with the group the picture that verse gives them of a believer. For example: Romans 5:8 — “In this verse I see a picture/image of how God loved me even when I didn’t deserve it.” - You are always loved.
- 1 John 4:15-19
- Romans 8:38-39
- You are a brand new person in Christ.
- 2 Cor. 5:17
- Col. 1:13
- Col. 3:9-11
- You are empowered by God’s Spirit to be more than an overcomer.
- Acts 1:8
- Romans 8:37
- 1 John 4:4
- You are not alone.
- Romans 8:31
- Jeremiah 20:11
- Isa. 50:7-9
- Matthew 28:20
- You are a child of the King.
- John 1:12
- 1 Peter 2:9
WORK Pray for those in your group who are feeling discouraged. Pray for the church as we prepare to move into a new location that all the details will come together. As discussed in Leadership Summit remember to stay in touch with those who are new to your group. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
