WORSHIP “Our Lord and God, you deserve to receive glory, honor, and power because you created everything. Everything came into existence and was created because of your will.” Revelation 4:11 God is so worthy of our praise; let's make sure we begin our meeting by honoring Him. WORD In order for children to receive the training they need to reach the destiny that God has placed in their lives, parents/guardians have a responsibility to: • Love them unconditionally • Never stop praying for them • Model and teach God's word for them • Give them constructive discipline • Spend time with them • Respect them as individuals • Enjoy life with them; make the journey fun Have the group take turns reading the verses of Luke 15:11-24. Ask the group to be ready to share their insight on how the father in this classic passage modeled some of these seven points. - How did your parents demonstrate unconditional love to you in your home? If there is little response from the group on this question, ask them for their ideas on what are some practical ways that unconditional love can be expressed?
Read Deuteronomy 6:5-7 - What is the significance of loving the Lord with all our heart, soul and might before we set out to teach our children?
- What are the four locations in verse seven that Moses tells them to teach and model God's word? How can that be done today?
- If the home is a divine school for God's word to be taught, what practical ways can it be shared without making it seem boring or irrelevant to the family?
It is reported that 100 years ago parents spend 54% of their time with their children, today it is only 18%. - What has caused such a drop?
- How much time do you think is healthy?
- Do you feel your parents spend an appropriate amount of time with you?
Read Proverbs 27:21; Matthew 3:17 Children receive their sense of worth or value by what others say of them, especially what their parents say of them. As a group discuss the importance of showing respect to children and speaking value into their lives. WORK Be sensitive to pray for any in your group that may have had a difficult childhood. Be ready to minister to them the love of our heavenly Father. Leaders please remember our next water baptism service is on October, 24. Please email the office of any candidates in your group.
