God is For Us Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

Did you ever have experience being bullied as a child?

WORSHIP

Worship is about celebrating what God has done in our lived, that He is for us.

WORD

As a group read Romans 8:31-39

At the end of this great chapter the apostle Paul states; “What shall we say to these things?” He was blown away by how good God has been to us. Despite all our shortcomings God accepts us just the way we are, gives us the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome old hurtful desires, adopts us as His kids and promises us a new home in heaven. In verse 31 Paul emphatically states: “God is for us.”

As a group discuss how do we know God is for us, what does this mean? Ask the group if any are experiencing opposition in their life and needing God to be for them? Encourage them that the group will pray for God’s help at the close of the meeting.

In verse 32 Paul lets us know of the generosity of our heavenly Father. If He gave His Son for us, how much more will God also supply our needs.

In verse 33 and 34 Paul asks who can accuse or condemn us. This does not mean we will never face accusation from the world or Satan but that it should have no affect on us.

Discuss with your group:

  • If anyone has ever faced accusations in a courtroom
  • How does the world accuse Christians?
  • How does Satan accuse believers (see Revelation 12:10)?
  • What kind of accusation will we receive in heaven’s “courtroom?”
  • What is Christ's role for us when we are accused? See Luke 22:31-32; Hebrews 7:25
  • Discuss what it means to be more than a conqueror in verse 37. In what areas does Paul say we can conqueror? What area in your life to you need God's love to help you conqueror this week?

WORK

A huge thank you for all the prayers of your group as we fasted the past several weeks. Congratulate your group on their efforts. Encourage new people in Christ to attend the Alpha course on Monday, and if you need to, take them out to it so they can get started.
