God is Strong and He Wants You Strong Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

What would you consider the most important key to a strong body?

WORSHIP

Pick songs that speak of God's strength and protection. If you are unable to sing, ask the group for any praise reports in the past week. A great question to ask is what was the highlight of the past Sunday services.

WORD

Throughout the Bible there is a theme of God encouraging us to be strong, to take courage and press ahead. But like a healthy body draws strength from vitamins, exercise, rest, etc, so our inner spirit being needs to draw strength from a source. God asks us to be strong but He also provides the ingredients.

Take a few moments as a group to look up some of the verses on God wanting us strong. Have each member read one of the verses and share their thoughts on it.

  • 1 Chronicles 28:10,20
  • Joshua 1:6-9
  • Ezra 10:4
  • Psalms 31:24
  • Psalms 140:7
  • Psalms 18:1-3
  • Joel 3:10
  • Proverbs 3:26
  • 2 Timothy 2:1
  • Ephesians 6:10-20
  • What does Paul say is the source of our power here?
  • What does Paul tell us we have to stand against?
  • What are the six pieces of armour that God gives us? Which are offensive and which are defensive?
  • What does it mean to “put on” or “take up” the whole armor?
  • How does prayer fit into this spiritual battle?

WORK

As a home group leader, take the opportunity of this weekend to grow your home group by strongly encouraging your group to invite others out to the concert with Detour 180 on Friday and then an awesome picnic on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Don't forget one of the greatest pastors in Canada will be with us Sunday night, Pastor Leon Fontaine.

Has this lesson helped you? Please let us know! Email home group testimonies with this form!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
