Who are you? What are you doing here? Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

This is a key part of the evening. As leader and host work together to make sure everyone feels welcome. The younger the group, the longer this period needs to be.

WORSHIP

Psalm 103:1-5

WORD

Key Text: Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter 2:9

In the Sunday message, we talked about a Rabbi who wandered into a Russian army camp when he doubted his faith. He was approached by a soldier who asked him, “Who are you? What are you doing here?” The questions so challenged him that he offered to pay the soldier every day to ask him these questions.

  • How would you respond to these questions?

It is easy to forget who we are and our relationship to God. Read Deuteronomy 8:11-20. The Israelites had a recurring problem of forgetting who God called them to be. Even after all the miracles and with all their feast days, still they would wander off.

  • What might have caused this?

Read Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter 2:9

  • Do you agree with the principle that every member is a minister?
  • What does it mean for a Christian to be a minister? What are some wrong stereotypes?

Read Romans 12:1-3

  • What does it mean to be a living sacrifice?
  • In what ways do you tend to conform to the world? How does it affect your serving the Lord?
  • What holds you back from using your gifts more fully?

Read Colossians 4:7-18

Here Paul lists a number of men that were a key part of the church team. They came from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Seeing how Paul operated with a team of fellow Christians, what does this imply to you?
  • What does it imply for your home group?

WORK

Please remember to look for and use the apprentice in your group. Make plans to bring them to the next Leadership Summit meeting. Continue to promote water baptism.

If you start thinking to yourselves, “I did all this. And all by myself. I’m rich. It’s all mine!”—well, think again. Remember that GOD, your God, gave you the strength to produce all this wealth so as to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors—as it is today.
