WELCOME ICEBREAKER
What is the biggest risk that you have ever taken in life?
WORSHIPPraise and thank God for calling you out of the kingdom of darkness and into His marvellous light.
WORDAll believers have been called to do great things for the kingdom of God through their different God-given abilities. Some people are called to be in full-time ministry, some to be doctors, others to be teachers, etc. Remember that we can all make a difference in our world regardless of what we do or where we work and serve, as long as we have been led there by God and we stay obedient towards our calling. You might not know your specific calling yet, but what you must know is that all Christ followers are called to live a godly life. Apostle Paul writes in Colossians 1:10, “… that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God ...” Our God is an awesome God and all of His plans for us are good, we just need to have faith and always obey and trust His guidance. As a group read through Luke 5:1-11. Questions: - What stands out to you in this passage?
- If you had been Simon Peter when Jesus said, “Put out into deep water, and let your nets for a catch,” what would you have done?
- wondered who he thought he was
- told Jesus I was too tired
- suggested another time when the fish were biting
- politely told Jesus to stick with His preaching
- grudgingly complied with the idea
- Compared to Peter, how would you describe your spiritual beginning?
- pretty tame
- more intellectual
- just as confusing
- even crazier
- different, but just as real
- When has Jesus asked you to step out in deep water? When did it not make sense to you to follow Him?
- What connection can you see between your past or present career or job and the call of to follow Jesus? Can you let God use you more where you’re at, or would you be more useful for God’s purpose elsewhere?
- In order to “catch” people for Jesus, what do you have going for you to help draw them?
- my ability to make friends
- my knowledge of the Bible
- my willingness to help people
- my willingness to take risks
- my willingness to “walk my talk”
WORKPray for those in your group who don’t have a clear understanding or view regarding their specific calling in life. Please also pray for our baptism candidates, and ask your group to come out this Sunday to celebrate and support their brothers and sisters in Christ.
