A Prepared Place for A Prepared People In the business of life it is easy to only focus on the pressing issues of our world and not give any thought to our eternal home – heaven. Listen now
Paul tells us to think about heaven. Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God’s right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. Colossians 3:1,2 Peter tells us we have something to look forward to. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world where everyone is right with God. 2 Peter 3:13 - Heaven is a place.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3
Heaven is a real place. This is reinforced by 582 other verses. We know from the Bible (the greatest source of accurate information on heaven) that heaven is a tangible place with real items such as; trees, rivers, horses (animals), clouds, fountains, streets, mansions, fruit, musical instruments, food, books, doors, lamps, furniture, banquet rooms, precious stones, etc.
Why don’t we think more about heaven?
- We have been decieved by our enemy.
Revelation 13:6 – “And he (the beast) opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.” - We have a limited understanding of it.
- We have no treasure there to look forward to enjoying.
- Heaven is a prepared place.
- Flowers are beautiful for one reason – God is beautiful.
- Rainbows are stunning because God is stunning.
- Puppies are delightful because God is delightful.
- Sports are fun because God is fun.
- Study is rewarding because God is rewarding.
- Work is fulfilling because God is fulfilling.
As it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
- Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.
Jesus is the door into heaven. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 We were made for heaven and by accepting Christ we are given a heavenly passport. C. S. Lewis put it this way, “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.” For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20 When we accept Christ our names are recorded in heaven. Nothing unclean, no one who does anything detestable, and no liars will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the lamb’s Book of Life will enter it. Revelations 21:27 To accept Christ we must call on His name. Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
