WELCOME ICEBREAKERWhen you think of a courageous person who comes to mind? WORSHIPBefore you start take time to read Isaiah 40:27-31 and encourage the group that today as they wait on the Lord they will be renewed with strength. They won’t leave the way they came!! WORD- Read Joshua 1:1-13
- Why do you think God repeats several times to be strong and of good courage?
- Before you can have courage you must have hope. As a group brainstorm on the hope that Joshua had. Hope is a vision, a faith view of the future. What would it be like if he didn’t go forward, what would it be like if he did?
- Courage is defined as to disregard fear. What were some of the fears Joshua must have faced as he led over two million people into the Promised Land after the great leader Moses was dead?
- Meditating on the Word of God will do three things for us that will build courage for change.
- It will help us to see ourselves as God does. Verse 5.
- How do you think God saw Joshua? What does He think of us?
- It will help us to see the situation as God sees it. Verse 3.
- Discuss how God saw this situation.
- What is the difference between God’s perspective on our problems and our own perspective on the problem?
- We will see God for who He is. Verse 9b.
- How did Joshua have to view God in order to succeed?
- What can we do to encourage others in our home group? Hebrews 10:24-25
WORKAsk your group to share if there is a “Jordan” in their lives they need to cross. What is requiring them to take a courageous step? Pray for these areas.
