WELCOME ICEBREAKER

What was your highlight of the long weekend?

WORSHIP

Psalm 103

WORD

We all have memorials of some kind whether we realize it or not. They are places, things, pictures or songs that trigger our memories. God encourages us to have memorials. In Joshua chapter four after successfully crossing the Jordan River God instructs Joshua to set up a memorial.

As a group read Joshua 4:1-24.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Why did God have Joshua set up the 12 stones?
  2. Why did Joshua also put some in the river?
  3. Why is it important to have memorials of God’s faithfulness in our lives ?
  4. What triggers you to remember God’s goodness in your life today?
  5. What are some examples of memorials? Ask your group to share what they have in their home that reminds them of God’s goodness. It may be a picture, a song, a card, etc.
  6. What makes youth ask about God today?
  7. Did you have parents or elders who told you stories of God’s power?
  8. The memorial stones were to be a witness also to the nations of the greatness of God. Is there anything in Vancouver that you think would speak of God’s might power to the nations? If so what is it? If not, why is there none?

WORK

Challenge the group to put up in their home a favourite verse that would speak to others of God’s goodness.
