WELCOME ICEBREAKERWhy do you think people break their promises? WORDNumbers 23:19 God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change his mind. When he says something, he does it. When he makes a promise, he keeps it. In order to receive the promises God has for us there are a few things we should remember: - We must first seek God and His promises.
- Read Jeremiah 29:13, Acts 17:27
- The Bible contains some 30,000 promises. There are promises that provided to meet every one of our needs. This week take time as a group to have people share their needs. Then “mine” the scriptures to have verses to cover each case. If you have seasoned believers you have a few “pet verses” try and find new ones on that subject. If you have time cover the following three points.
- We must trust what God said is true.
- Read Hebrews 10:23 and Hebrews 11:6
- What role does our faith play in the promises of God.
- We must have patience.
- Hebrews 6:12b, Hebrews 10:36 and 1 Peter 4:2,3
- What does it mean to continue to patiently do the will of God?
- We must turn our back to the temptations of the world.
- Read 2 Peter 1:3,4
