WELCOME ICEBREAKER

Why do you think people break their promises?

WORD

Numbers 23:19
God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change his mind. When he says something, he does it. When he makes a promise, he keeps it.

In order to receive the promises God has for us there are a few things we should remember:

  1. We must first seek God and His promises.

    1. Read Jeremiah 29:13, Acts 17:27

    2. The Bible contains some 30,000 promises. There are promises that provided to meet every one of our needs. This week take time as a group to have people share their needs. Then “mine” the scriptures to have verses to cover each case. If you have seasoned believers you have a few “pet verses” try and find new ones on that subject. If you have time cover the following three points.

  2. We must trust what God said is true.

    1. Read Hebrews 10:23 and Hebrews 11:6

    2. What role does our faith play in the promises of God.

  3. We must have patience.

    1. Hebrews 6:12b, Hebrews 10:36 and 1 Peter 4:2,3

    2. What does it mean to continue to patiently do the will of God?

  4. We must turn our back to the temptations of the world.

    1. Read 2 Peter 1:3,4
