Dealing with Society’s Pressure

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

When you buy cloths are you name brand conscious?

WORSHIP

Before you start take time to read Isaiah. 40:27-31 and encourage the group that today as they wait on the Lord they will be renewed with strength. They won’t leave the way they came!!

WORD

As a group read Colossians chapter 3.

Discussion questions:

  1. How are we to grow in our spiritual lives according to verses 1 to 4?
  2. What does Paul mean by ‘set your minds on things above’? How do we do this? Give examples.
  3. How much contrast is there between the clothes of the old nature and the clothes of the new nature we have in Christ?
  4. Which aspect of your old nature do you have trouble taking off?
  5. What piece of clothing out of the designer clothing Jesus has for us do you need to put on?
  6. Changing wardrobes is a process as we discover our new nature. Verse 10 says we are ‘continually being renewed’. What part does the renewing of the mind play in this? See Romans 12:1,2.
  7. Discuss the affect of wearing these spiritual clothes should have on our homes and in our workplace. Ask if there are any examples where people have seen ‘Christ in us’.

WORK

Let the prayer time be a time to consecrate ourselves to Christ. Dedicating ourselves to be holy, as God has called us.
