Though it’s sometimes difficult for us to admit, we have all lived less than perfect lives. Often our best intentions have failed us as we have found ourselves hurting others, hurting ourselves and wrestling with feelings of failure, disappointment, and hopelessness. Over time, many of us developed compulsive or recurring patterns that eventually led us even farther away from the fulfillment and peace-of-mind we craved. With a majority of Canadians now taking addictive substances on a daily basis, many of us believe we are unable to function without “using” something to help us escape. We have become a “culture of addiction” where many are being injured in the wreckage of pain and brokenness. In 2004 alone, one in three Canadians reported having been harmed at least once in the past year as a result of someone else’s drinking problem.* Celebrate Recovery was established to provide a safe environment for people to find hope through a Christ-centric, 12-Step program that is based on “8 recovery principles” found in the Bible. Regardless of what our hurts, habits, or hang-ups might be, Celebrate Recovery connects us with people whose struggles are similar to our own and brings us through a spiritual growth process where we find lasting freedom from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. The foundation of our recovery is the focus on Jesus Christ as our one and only Higher Power. As we journey through these steps with Him we experience peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. Every Friday night we are strengthened and supported on our road to recovery through great music, proven principles, honest sharing, courageous life stories, and of course — good food and friends at the Smooth Stone Café! Newcomers are always welcome. |
