If You Say Go Print

Pastor Cheryl Koop

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.  It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes – Jews first and also Gentiles.

Listen now

Why is it important to go?

Romans 10:14
But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?

I Corinthians 1:21
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided through the foolishness of our proclamation to save those who believe.

Luke 24:47
Thus it is written ... that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in His name to all nations.
  1. Before I can go, I must hear the voice of the Lord saying “come follow me”

The Gospel message is found primarily in the 4 first books of the New Testament called the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and are largely made up of stories….. Stories of the life of Jesus penned through men inspired by the Holy Spirit.

What is this Gospel, or Good News?

Unlike the western world, which is considered information driven, 2/3’s of the known world has storytelling as its primary communication vehicle.

The Good News story is this:

    - Explains who God is through His Son Jesus Christ
    I Corinthians 2:2; John 20:31

    - The death and resurrection of Christ
    1 Corinthians 15:3-4

    - Call to respond
    2 Corinthians 5:20

    - We are made in His image
    Genesis 1:26, 2:7

    - The Kingdom of God
    Mark 1:15, Luke 4:18, 19

  2. Faith acts on what has been heard

    Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.

  1. GOD empowers me to be a witness.

    Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

  2. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

    1 Samuel 15:22b,23a
… Behold to obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as idolatry …

  3. I have a mandate

    Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus approached and breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly and on every occasion) to the very close consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

Result?

Joshua 14:9
So on that day Moses swore to me, 'The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'

Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
