God Keeps You From Failing |
|
WELCOME ICEBREAKER What was your highlight of the week? WORSHIP Numbers 6:24 The Lord will bless you and watch over you. Numbers 6:25 The Lord will smile on you and be kind to you. Numbers 6:26 The Lord will look on you with favour and give you peace. WORD Review the following five points and corresponding verses with your group. Then proceed with the discussion questions. One strategic key to winning over temptation is to refocus. To overcome the neon lights of temptation we need to focus on:- What God says about us. 1 Peter 2:9
- The solution not the problem. James 1:21,22, Jude 24, Romans 8:13, James 4:7
- Doing good not feeling good. Motivation is a by-product of our actions. Colossians 3:8-15
- Progress not perfection. Philippians 1:6, 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
- Whom you are with. 1 Corinthians 15:33, Proverbs 27:17
Discussion Questions: - What are some common excuses people give for their repeated failures?
- Do you think it is possible for people to overcome their ingrained negative habits and hang-ups without the help of God?
- What is the difference to temptation to sin and sin itself?
- God tells us He will provide a way of escape for us from sin. What are some practical examples of how God does this?
- How can being in a home group help you stand up under temptations?
- Of the five focuses which one do you find you have to work on?
WORK Pray for the needs in the group. Please also pray for the Holy Spirit this Saturday. Encourage your group members to attend.
