Put Joy On Your Christmas List Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

Who is your life makes you laugh the most?

WORSHIP

Leaders you are encouraged to use the new P&W DVD. If you missed receiving one at the annual Christmas party please check with Jen Neuman.

WORD

As a group read and discuss Luke 2:1-10.

  • Discuss what kind of political and social environment you think Jesus was born into.
  • Considering the times the shepherds were living in, what do you think they thought the message meant?
  • One of the promises was that the Messiah would bring great joy. What can we learn from this passage in Luke and the following verses about this God-kind of joy?
    • Nehemiah 8:10, Isaiah 52:9, 61:3, Psalm 19:8, 126:5, Proverbs 15:15, 17:22, John 15:11, Acts 20:24, Galatians 5:22
  • How does the joy God gives us differ from the “joy” the world gives?
  • What are the benefits of having joy in our lives?
  • As a group share where you can give away this joy this Christmas season.
  • Where in your life do you feel this joy needs to be given? Remember this is often a choice and not based on circumstances or feelings.

WORK

Pray for the needs of your group over Christmas. Make sure that those in your group have someone to connect with over the holidays. If there are individuals that will be alone and your group is unable to help them please call the office.
