Jesus Loves Street People Print

WELCOME ICEBREAKER

What would be your reaction if a squeegee person wanted to clean the windows of your car? (If you don’t have a car, pretend you did.)

WORSHIP

Psalm 105:1-8. If you are unable to have a time of singing in your group read these verses of worship before starting the discussion.

WORD

As a group read through John chapter 9.

  • What stands out to you in this chapter?

At the end of this chapter we have a rather short conversation between Jesus and a beggar. From this passage we can learn about the different views people have when God changes our lives. The blind man’s parents looked through the glasses of rejection, the disciples viewed the man through his family history, the Pharisees saw him through the eyes of the religion and the neighbours could only see him from his past. As believers we need God to grace us to see people the way He does and to view ourselves the way He see us.

  • The disciples put the blame for the man’s blindness on some sin in the family. In our society today where do we put the blame for pain?
  • What is one thing that has been in your family tree for generations that you choose not to carry on?
  • If you went back to your high school reunion what would your graduating class be surprised to learn about your life now?
  • What is the Pharisees real motive in questioning the man who was blind?
  • What do you think about the parent’s reaction in this situation?
  • How did this man progress in his faith? Why didn’t his parents?
  • Who has been the hardest person to explain your faith to?
  • How would you measure your spiritual vision today?
    • 20/20
    • legally blind
    • near-sighted
    • far-sighted
    • a few blind spots
