WELCOME ICEBREAKER What was your highlight of Easter this year? WORSHIP “Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.” (2 Chronicles 16:10) Spend about 10 to 15 minutes seeking the Lord and His presence at the meeting. Freely rejoice in Him and His goodness! WORD The events surrounding the cross made a huge impact on those who witnessed the death and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Look up the following verses and share with the rest of the group how you think it changed the lives of these individuals: - The apostle John and Jesus’ mom - John 19:25-27
- Pilate and Barabbas - Matthew 27:24-26
- Nicodemus (same man Jesus talked to in John 3) - John 19:38,39
- The two criminals who where crucified beside Jesus - Luke 23:39-43
- The Roman soldiers - Luke 23:44-47
- Mary Magdalene – John 20:11-16
- The disciples – John 20:19-20
- Thomas- John 20:24-29
Why do you think Thomas was not with the rest of the disciples the night Jesus first appeared to them? In verse 25 Thomas not only has doubts, he states he will not believe unless he can see and touch. How did Jesus deal with Thomas’ attitude? Thomas had closed his mind unless he saw certain signs. What causes your friends to close their minds to the things of God? Jesus tells Thomas in verse 27 “do not be unbelieving but believing.” Neither faith nor unbelief can stand still. How would you describe your faith growth today? What did Jesus mean in verse 29? What is your proof that Jesus rose from the dead? WORK Remember that this Sunday is water baptism. Please encourage your group to join us at 3:00 PM at English Bay and lets pray for warm weather!!
