Understanding Temptation |
|
WELCOME ICEBREAKER WORSHIP A song by David for going up to worship. Psa. 124:1 “If the Lord had not been on our side. . .” (Israel should repeat this.) Psa. 124:2 “If the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, Psa. 124:3 then they would have swallowed us alive when their anger exploded against us. Psa. 124:4 Then the floodwaters would have swept us away. An ‹overflowing› stream would have washed us away. Psa. 124:5 Then raging water would have washed us away.” Psa. 124:6 Thank the Lord, who did not let them sink their teeth into us. Psa. 124:7 We escaped like a bird caught in a hunter’s trap. The trap was broken, and we escaped. Psa. 124:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. WORD Read Genesis 3:1-7 - What was Satan’s strategy to lure Eve away from God?
- Steer the conversation to:
- How Satan gets us to question God’s word.
- How Satan paints a picture of God being hard and pointing out the one tree they could not eat from when they had a whole garden to enjoy.
- How Satan makes sin look appealing.
- Compare this with 1 John 2:15,16
- What are the downward steps of temptation as seen in this first temptation?
- Steer the conversation in this direction;
- She looked, she took, she ate, and she gave.
- Why do you think Satan tempted Eve and not Adam?
- Adam and Eve were ashamed and hid after yielding to temptation. How do people hide today?
