WORSHIP

Psalm 139:13-18 (Message)
13 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother's womb.
14 I thank you, High God--you're breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration--what a creation!
15 You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
16 Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day.
17 Your thoughts--how rare, how beautiful!
God, I'll never comprehend them!
18 I couldn't even begin to count them--
any more than I could count the sand of the sea.
Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you!

WORD

  • Read Mark 12:28-31.
    1. What do you think it means to love yourself? What does it not mean?
    2. Why should we love ourselves?
    3. Why do people struggle with this?
    4. How can we love ourselves?
      • One of the ways is to tell ourselves the truth. Throughout life there are those who put us down, call us names, gossip, accuse us, etc. In order to overcome that we must go back to God’s word and see what it says we are. This is the truth that sets us free to help others.
  • Read James 1:22-25.
    Here God’s word is compared to a mirror that reflects the truth about who we really are. As a group discuss what you think the mirror reflects, what does it tell you about who you are as we look into God’s word about our image? Ask the group what each of the following verses tells them about who they are:
    1. Genesis 1:27 – It tells me I am made in God’s image.
    2. Luke 10:19 - It tells me I am a person with authority.
    3. John 16:24 – It tell me I am able to use His name.
    4. Ephesians 1:3, Psalm 68:19 – It tells me I am blessed with spiritual blessings.
    5. Romans 5:8 – It tells me I am loved.
    6. Romans 8:15-17 – It tells me I am a child of God.
    7. Romans 8:31 – It tells me God is for me.
    8. Romans 8:37 – It tells me I am more than a conqueror.
    9. 1 Corinthians. 1:30 – It tells me I am right with God.
    10. 1 John 1:9 – It tells me I am forgiven.
    11. Psalm 103:3 – It tells me I healed.
