JAM’s primary commitment is the fight against hunger and malnutrition in Africa. Each year they provide millions of nutritious meals to thousands of hungry children through our Nutritional Feeding Programme at schools.
To complement feeding initiatives, JAM has adopted a holistic approach to development through our Complete Community Development Approach (CCDA), which has seen us develop and implement Water and Sanitation, and Agricultural Development Programmes. These programs are sustainably designed to produce results and change in the battle against water and food insecurity, and thus achieving JAM’s mission of Helping Africa Help Itself.
Coastal Church has partnered with JAM and their Red Bowl campaign. For just $65 Canadian dollars you can feed one child for an entire year!

In February 2015, Coastal interns embarked on a mission to a Colombian orphanage and were witnesses to the lives that were changed through Christ. Our team came alongside our partners in Colombia as the orphanage did not have the man power needed to repair buildings or maintain the property. Throughout the team’s time in Futuro Juvenil in La Mesa, interns worked hard preparing the orphanage for an upcoming government inspection, to renew their license. From painting, landscaping, construction and doing IT and administrative work, each project was finished just on time as inspectors visited the orphanage. The inspection went incredibly well and the orphanage received a favourable review! Practical items such as Bibles, toothbrushes, and other personal care items were brought for the children. Evenings were spent with kids sharing the gospel with them through teaching, music and dramas.
This year’s interns are preparing for Colombia to serve alongside the Colombian team and meet the children once again, and have great expectations of what God will do to change lives forever!
Coastal Church Youth and Young Adults have been enthusiastically volunteering in Yukon since the summer of 2013. Camp Yukon is solely operated by Bethany Church and its members, with the assistance of many other churches and organizations who send ministry teams to ensure their camps and retreats run effectively.
For over 60 years, Camp Yukon has been reaching people in the north, especially underprivileged children and teens from remote communities throughout northwest Canada. Volunteers make sure the games and activities run smoothly, kids and teens are looked after and counselled well, dishes are washed, food is served, photos and videos are taken, instruments are played and a great camp experience is facilitated!
For many children and youth who attend Camp Yukon, it is a unique opportunity to not only enjoy the outdoors in a safe and caring environment, but also to experience the perfect love of God the Father. Volunteers are truly the hands and feet of Jesus in a very tangible and life changing way.
