Kingdom Building For Generations
Declaring God's fame for generations in the heart of New West.
Drawing inspiration from Psalm 135:13, the purpose of the 135 Campaign is simple, yet profound: To establish a strategic and visible place in New Westminster where God’s fame will be declared for generations to come.
While we know the church is the body of believers in Christ Jesus, a building speaks of our vital need to assemble together. It is a physical, public declaration of faith and a committed presence in the community. By revitalizing this historic landmark, we are not just renovating wood and stone; we are securing a hub for community, worship, and mission for this generation and beyond.
Giving Campaign
New Westminster Campus
Formerly known as Knox Presbyterian Church, Coastal Church took ownership of this historic 140-year-old building in 2024 and is committed to revitalizing and preparing it for our full use.
The funds raised through the 135 Campaign will go directly towards the essential renovations needed to bring this historic property back to life and prepare it to serve a new generation.
Our vision is to:
Restore the structural integrity of the aging building.
Modernize key facilities to create accessible, welcoming spaces for all ages and all community initiatives.
Preserve the architectural beauty of the Gothic Revival style, honouring its past while looking towards its future.
How we are helping make the city of New West a better place.
Coastal Church is deeply committed to our mission: to Help Make the City a Better Place. The New Westminster Campus is a strategic location that puts us right at the centre of the city’s pulse, ready to act as good neighbours and agents of change, bringing the love of Jesus to our community.
This renovated campus will allow us to deepen our mission by:
Providing a Home for our Church Family:
It will be a dedicated, vibrant place for our church family to gather, worship, study God’s Word, and grow in community – a fresh, new campus to bring your family and friends.
Serving Our Neighbours:
A fully functioning, revitalized campus enables us to expand and launch local outreach initiatives. From providing space for programs like The Alpha Course, Freedom Session and Family Life ministry, this building will be a practical resource used to meet the real needs of our community.
A Centre of New Life:
Our prayer is that this campus will burst with new life in Jesus Christ. This campus is not just a building; it is a spiritual outpost where the Gospel is shared and lives are transformed.
135 Campaign FAQ
We are launching the 135 Campaign to secure a permanent, strategic location for the church’s mission for the next generation. This initiative is about realizing the vision based on Psalm 135:13—to have a central hub in New Westminster where God’s fame will be declared for decades to come. By restoring this historic building, we are creating a foundation to fulfill our mission to Help Make the City a Better Place through expanded community service, outreach, and dedicated worship space.
The total fundraising goal is $1.5 million. These funds are dedicated solely to the essential, large-scale renovation of the 140-year-old Gothic Revival church building. This includes:
- Structural Integrity: Critical repairs to the aging infrastructure, and foundational elements.
- Modernization & Accessibility: Updating key facilities to create welcoming, functional, and fully accessible spaces for all ages and community programs.
- Architectural Preservation: Honouring and preserving the stunning historical features of the Gothic Revival style, ensuring its beauty endures.
All funds raised through the 135 Campaign are segregated into a dedicated account and committed solely to the New Westminster Campus renovation project. We are committed to transparency and will provide periodic updates on our progress and how the funds are being used.
Yes, absolutely! We are one church with multiple campuses, and we are all in this together as we work to HELP make the city a better place. Investing in our New Westminster Campus strengthens the entire Coastal Church family and extends our collective Gospel-focused reach into the Lower Mainland. Your participation, regardless of which campus you call home, is vital and deeply appreciated.
We encourage all Life Groups to participate in the Life Group Challenge! This will launch January 2026 for a 3-month term. This a powerful way to demonstrate unity and creative generosity. Groups can pool their efforts and resources through initiatives like:
- Selling Unused Household Items: Hosting a group-wide garage sale or selling larger valuables online and pooling the proceeds.
- Creative Initiatives: Working together to create and sell crafts, baked goods, or specialized services and group events.
- Sacrificial Giving: Committing to a period of shared savings or undertaking small jobs for the group’s donation.
The campaign is designed to accommodate various commitments:
- Immediate Impact: A one-time donation.
- Monthly Faith Commitment: A Monthly Faith Commitment with a set amount each month until the end of 2026.
Demolition will begin November 15th 2025 and with permiting in place, by God’s grace, we expect the renovations to be completed by late Spring 2026.
Your giving makes a difference!
